Social media is a growing
advertising market, with over 500 million Twitter users, 1.1 billion Facebook
users, and over 4 billion video views on YouTube everyday social media is a
great form of advertising.
There are many ways to advertise
using social media, particularly with Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.
Twitter has recently introduced
promoted tweets. Promoted tweets are tweets from a businesses profile that
twitter places on users timeline based on accounts you may follow, previous
tweets or hash tags, or searches. How it works, Twitter simply takes five
tweets that companies have tweeted off their accounts and tweets them onto
other users timelines. The business then pays on a pay-per-click basis.
Facebook advertisements are a
really effective and cheap way to advertise on mobile sites. One way to
advertise on Facebook is by creating a page to build an audience that follows
your brand or business. Fans of your business can refer to the page to check
out what ever you put on there (ex. promotions, new inventory, and so on), and
from there people can share it with there friends.
You can also buy ads on Facebook
that will appear onto users feeds, or on the right hand side of the webpage.
Posting the advertisement on to the users feed is more affective because it is
less likely to get ignored do to the fact that it is mixed in with all other
regular posts from Facebook friends.
YouTube is ranked third in the top
“search” websites behind Google and Facebook, which makes it a very popular
site and great for advertising. But that does not come cheap. YouTube is the
most expensive site to advertise on out of the three popular mobile sites.
